Well I have lots of money on a Germany Spain final with Spain to win.
 
It is all looking very good. I think maybe the Poles had the wrong Dutchman. Gus HIddink is a god and turing around ordinary teams. I might he doesn't have to go through the visa rubbish that I do. The whole of Moscow came to a complete standstill on Saturday. God help us if they beat the Spanish.
 
Turkey have done a houdini escapologist twice. Surely they cannot do it this time. We just hope that all the Poles playing for Germany don't rub everybody's noses in it by scoring lots of goals.
 
Both games will be 2 0 to Spain and Germany, but what do I know.

Football fills you with optimism to give you a Red Bull style sugar rush and a come down that is very holllow and empty.  
Yet in our heart of hearts we always knew this. We all knew the Germans would scrape it. We hoped that Poland would recreate 1974 or 1982, but it wasn't to be. Somehow they were inevitably average. Why do you always qualify and then that is your compatition over?
Thankfully the British ref is now an irrelevancy. Poland didn't do enough anyway.
 
The whole experience of adopting another national team and the friends and connections we have made over the last 6 weeks or so has been great fun. Poland will have their day again I am sure. Hopefully England will too.
 
There is always the World Cup and who knows Polska 2012. Naprzod Polska.

What a weekend of footie? Do we dare to dream? Miracles can happen. Draw for Germany and we win three nil. That would be good. Well if the Turks come back from 2 0 down to win 3 2 anything is possible.
 
The Dutch look very good, but Spain are my bet.
All I know anything I recommend here do the opposite, because having won lots of money betting in the first three days it has all gone wrong since.
Anyway here we go. My quarter finalists will be:
 
Turkey Croatia
Portugal Poland (come on Austra, your whole country will be behind you as well as half of Europe)
Holland v Sweden
Spain v Romania
go away Italy and France.. They truly don't deserve to qualify.
 
The above is my hope.
Poland vs Spain in the final and us to win on penalties

o dear oh dear oh dear....we are as good as out. and it miss all down to an Englishman. He will become more famous than the match itself. Possibly it was a penalty... but how often do those get called? We could have been 3 down in twenty minutes, so a draw may have been far. No matter i still feel sick with disappointment..

Croatia were great. My predictions were completely wrong. We now need a miracle. Miracles do happen. Germany were crap last night. why didn't they play like that against us. We need them to draw with Germany and us to win 3 0... I think or to win and us to win by loads.

I will make no more predictions after that, but my heart tonight is with Romania.

Crunch day guys. We can do it. Austria are very poor even with the home support. The two home nations will both be out before the end of this evening.

For some reason we have another holiday here. So I am going to wander the streets of Moscow and eventually end up in a pub to watch the germans beat Croatia 3-0 and then the Polska win 2-0. Those are my predictions and so far I have been resonably righty. The Czechs were a touch unlucky last night I think. Turkey won when I was asleep, but I backed them as well.

We are the boys in white and red we go where others fear to tread.

The Russians started with burning passion, but in the end were outclassed by the best team in the tournament. Will the Spanish do their usual and lose stupidly in the quarter finals as usual? It was very reminiscent of our game. They had their chances but somehow the result seemed inevitable.
 
I have a funny feeling about the not very beautiful pragmatic Czechs tonight. They may just beat Portugal. I am not so interested in the other game.
 
I know everything famous about Poland. What can we say about Austria -famous composers, william tell, the sound of music, strudel, women with big boobs and blonde bunches, yodelling, hitler, white horses, sweet white wine, hans krankl( he was quite good), franz klammer, gentle german accents... probably lots more...
Poland is more interesting...

Big night tonight. I have to go for the Romanians and the Dutch.
I love Italy, but hate Italain footie. Totti, along with Ronaldo is the most annoying guy in the tournament. I assume he is playing.
When Italians fake epilepsy when they fall over you want to kill them. I think Euro 2008 should introduce a pink card for acting. Ronaldo and Totti would surely end up being the pinkest players. A dent to their macho images would do nobody any harm.
You have got to want Romania to upset the French. I am an Arsenal supporter so I quite like France, but the more upsets the better. It also gives a Polska a fighting chance.
I wish the matches weren't so late here. the second match starts at 11pm. This tournament will be no good good for my liver.

Watching Poland last night was very like watching England. Lots of hype, lots of macho rhetoric and then lots of disappointment. Now Poland has to come good next time and not wait for the final honour game when it is too late. There was enough last night to say we can beat Croatia. We should remember that we were playing the best team in the tournament and with a touch of luck we may have stolen a draw last night.
 
Come on Poland. Adversity maybe what drives us. Let s go and beat Croatia. Let's hear our song for at least another week. If you reach the next round, then who knows?

No Totti, but whatever the Italians were truly outplayed and I had money on the Dutch so I was very happy. At last the Dutch looked like a team, probably for the first time in ten years.
 
The French were truly awful. Why do the Germans never have awful games like that in major championships? Romania fought hard and defensively were very tenacious, but oh dear les bleus you need Thierry Henry.
 
I am an Englishman in Moscow so I would like the Russians to do well, but Spain look hot. Even in competitions when they fail to impress they always have a couple of good games. I am afraid tonight could be one of those. I will be asleep for Sweden vs Greece. Not so interested in that one, but who knows. The Greeks did it in Euro 2004.
 
After yesterday's hangover Poland, let's get those spirits up. Austria really are not very good. Carpe Diem. A nice 2 0 win and then let's beat Croatia. Then you can officially claim to be better than England.
